TEDS (Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Service)

The North Dakota Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Service (TEDS) is designed to provide free specialized telecommunications equipment to meet the needs of individuals who are communications-impaired and who might be otherwise disadvantaged in their ability to obtain such equipment.

Eligibility

You are eligible if . . .
1) you are having difficulty using the telephone because of a severe hearing loss, speech impairment or physical disability, and
2) you have applied for or have phone service in your home, and
3) you are a North Dakota resident age 5 or over, and
4) you meet income limits, and
5) you are certified by a physician, audiologist, hearing instrument specialist, or speech language pathologist as unable to use a telephone readily purchased from a retail store.

• For person who cannot voice their call, but is able to hear the person being called, or calling
• Number pad of the telephone is a keypad to type message to the person on the other end of the line
• Place calls through toll-free relay service

• Speak to the other party and read their incoming message on the phone's screen
• Place calls through toll-free relay service

• Receive both voice and written captions of what the other party says














TTY
TTY

• Messages are typed and seen on the screen
• Record of phone calls can be printed
• Place calls through toll-free relay service or direct call to other TTY










Accessories

There are many accessories available through this program to assist you in operating your phone, such as voice dialers, switches, headsets, ring signalers, amplified phone ringers, cell phone amplifiers, etc.
